Those who follow my Instagram account @elle.biblio will know that last Sunday I met with two amazing booklovers and spent the day book shopping and discussing our love of books.
At 10:30am (I was running late) on Sunday the 7th of June, I walked (ran) into Dymocks Brisbane and met the lovely girls Dana (@danasbookcrush) and Annie (@thebookcube). Since I was late, the other two girls had already picked out a few books each to purchase, but I couldn’t let them out do me! I walked out of the store with 6 books.
Those books were (pictured below):
–Halo, Hades, and Heaven by Alexandra Adornetto
–Unravel Me and Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi
–What I Thought I Knew by Huntley Fitzpatrick
We also bought adorable matching mugs! The after stopping for refreshments at Starbucks, we headed to Big W to browse the less-well-stocked-but-cheaper-than-bookstore shelves. Here I purchased a further 3 books, bringing my total to 9.
Those books were:
–Venom and Starling by Fiona Paul
–You’re the Kind of Girl I Write Songs About by Daniel Herborn
I am particularly excited about the latter because a) it is an Australian book by an Australian author and b) starting tomorrow, Annie, Dana, and I will be doing a Read-a-Long over Instagram. To join us, follow each account and use the hashtag #kindofgirlreadalong.
You may have thought we had bought enough books by now (though one can never buy enough books, we were struggling to carry out haul); however, after taking some beautiful photos of our beautiful books at Southbank, we proceeded to the Lifeline Bookfest at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. This thing was HUGE so we helped each other out to find some great second-hand books. Annie is collecting editions of Looking for Alibrandi by Malina Marchetta and we found two she didn’t have in good condition. Dana collected all of the Harry Potter books and is generously doing an international giveaway for them on her Instagram @danasbookcrush. I collected the first five Blue Bloods novels by Melissa de la Cruz and picked up three stand alones’: Son of a Witch (Wicked #2) by Gregory Maguire, A Gathering Light by Jennifer Donnelly, and The Pearl Hunters by Kim Wilkins (I’ve been searching for this book for years to add to my collection).
So I am pretty pleased with my results (i.e. books) and I made tow amazing friends along the way! Don’t forget to check out Dana’s Harry Potter international giveaway and our Read-a-Long on Instagram.
