Favourite Debuts of 2016

Iron Cast by Destiny Soria

I picked this book up as soon as it arrived in the post (and I preordered it), which almost never happens because ALL THE BOOKS. But this was a highly anticipated release/debut for me this year and it did not disappoint. I rated this beautiful historical 4.5/5 stars.

The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye

I love fantasy and I love historical fiction and I love the historical-fantasy hybrid genre. This was one of my favourites of that genre of all time. I think some were disappointed by the amount of fantasy, but I personally found the book really balanced with the fantasy, historical, and romance elements. I rated this epic 5/5 stars.

The Girl from Everywhere by Heidi Heilig

The synopsis sounded AWESOME but the book didn’t exactly match it. Don’t get me wrong, this is an amazing book, but I found it better to go into the story without too many expectations and you’ll be sure to love it! I rated this adventure 4/5 stars.

Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

This was one of my fastest reads of the year. I just got sucked into the world and could not get out (not even after the last page). I really enjoyed the world, learning about the magic system, and rooting for the characters. It was a great debut and I’m looking forward to seeing where the story goes and how the author grows in the sequel. I rated this journey 4/5 stars.

Frankie by Shivaun Plozza

This is by far my favourite #LoveOzYA debut this year and it completely broke my heart. It was amazing to read a book set in places I know and to read about some difficult and timely topics. The best aspect of this book is its exploration of family relationships and it gave me all the feels. I rated this mystery  4.5/5 stars.
