New year, new post! I’ve decided to add TBR posts to my regular monthly posts this year as an extra way to track my reading and an attempt to keep me focused on the books I need to read, helping to reduce the number of TBR books sitting on my shelves. I’m planning on just having three TBR books a month that are already sitting on my shelves to make it a realistic goal and leave space for review books and new releases (but I’ll go into my reasoning more in a resolutions post coming later in the month).
Lady Helen and the Dark Days Pact by Alison Goodman
This was one of my most anticipated releases of 2017 but—lucky for me and fellow Aussie readers—it was released early in Australia and I got my hands on it late December. I’m so excited to see where this series is going since the first book, Lady Helen and the Dark Days Club, was one of my favourite reads of 2015 (yes, I got an ARC).
A Madness So Discreet by Mindy McGinnus
I can’t believe it has taken me this long to finally pick this up. I’ve had it on my Goodreads TBR since before its release in 2015, but at that stage I didn’t have a whole lot of cash and decided to wait until its release in paperback in 2016 and I STILL HAVEN’T READ IT. I was so highly anticipating it and then it just sat there on my shelf, collecting dust. I am very disappointed in myself. But, I am remedying that now by making giving it the highly honourable place of First Book Read in 2017.
Egg and Spoon by Gregory Maguire
I have suddenly got the urge to read all the YA/Middle Grade set in Russia—as you might have guessed from my December haul on Instagram). I knew I wanted to read one of my newly acquired books set in Russia, but I wasn’t certain of which one until a fellow blogger and Bookstagrammer (the lovely Catherine from Escape by Reading) said she was thinking about reading it and asked to see a review of it. So that’s what I’m doing!
There are so many great books coming out in the next few months! The January releases I’m most excited for are:
